More than four million Canadians are low income and may live in a state of food insecurity. This means they do not have reliable access to adequate amounts of safe, nutritious, and good quality food.

Food banks are an important tool for helping those in need and each month more than 800,000 Canadians turn to the food banks for help feeding themselves and their families. Those who visit food banks come from a variety of backgrounds and include children, the elderly and those with disabilities.

Food Bank use in Canada has been on the rise, and in BC has increased 35% between 2008 and 2014, with 31% of those assisted being children.

The need is very clear but the donations don’t go as far as they used to. Every year JR Direct pledges money and or food items to help the great people at the South Delta Food Bank and ensure that food finds its way to the members of our community that need it most. But they also need your help, if you would like to make a cash or food donation they can be delivered in person Monday through Friday (8 AM – 4 PM) to:

South Delta Food Bank
5545 Ladner Trunk Road
Delta, BC V4K 1X1

You can also make a donation by Cheque (payable to “South Delta Food Bank”). Tax receipts for your donation will be provided. We encourage you to make a donation this holiday season and help those in need in your community.

We have been fortunate to see first-hand the impact that a donation can have and see what supporting the community truly looks like. We encourage everyone to look for ways you can make a difference in your community this holiday season.
